15 years later...

...the band blog begins. 

 

Alright it's not really a band blog, as Lester has little to do with this thing. It's more of a personal Al Dente blog. But I will talk about the shows, the fans and the business of being a full time musician.
We've been together for the past 15 years. And when I say "together" I mean "together", not "together". Contrary to what some of you think- we are not gay. But we are the gayest straight band in New Mexico.

Until this blog is up and running full steam, here are a few memorable band moments off the top of my head: 

• We were hired for a gig in Canada, and the fine folks of the Canadian TSA (or whatever they call it up there) at the Toronto Int'l airport thought that my gear case was harboring bomb detonators. Try explaining to a customs officer that a suitcase full of wires and pedals is just a suitcase full of wires and pedals. I have no desire to take down a plane that is taking me to make money.

• One night we set up in the wrong ballroom for a wedding. An hour later, Lester asks me "Where the hell is everyone"? Needless to say they were down the hall wondering "Where the hell is the band?"

• And of course there's the night Lester's pants split right up the crotch. Nothing like a guy sitting on a stool with his testicle staring you right in the face to really make you enjoy a show.

This blog will talk about Vanilla Pop shows past and future. And since it is also a personal blog, I'll diverge and give you my opinion on things like bar food, bridezillas, Bar Mitzvah's, the music business and the letter "B".
